Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh, AVSM, SM** is an alumnus of La’ Martiniere College Lucknow, Lucknow University and Indian Military Academy, Dehradun and was commissioned into Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) in Dec 1987.  He has attended the prestigious Staff Course at DSSC Wellington, Higher Defence Management Course at CDM Secunderabad and Advance Professional Programme in Public Administration at IIPA, Delhi. He holds a Masters in Management Studies from Osmania University and a Masters in Philosophy from the Punjab University.

In a career spanning over 37 years, the General Officer has had vast operational experience, including serving in United Nations mission, Counter Insurgency operations and High Altitude areas.  He Commanded a Special Forces Battalion in the Kashmir Valley and on the LC, an Infantry Brigade on the LC, a Mountain Division in Op Snow Leopard and a Corps in Western Theatre. 

The General Officer has varied staff exposures including Staff Officer in an Infantry Brigade, Comd HQs and in Army Headquarters. He has also served in the Strategic Forces Command. The General Officer has served with his Battalion in Sri Lanka as part of IPKF, Siachen Glacier, Nagaland and Assam and has had repeated tenure in J&K in Srinagar and along the LC. 

For his distinguished service to the Nation, the General Officer has been awarded Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Sena Medal twice.
