Technical Training

Infantry Weapons Training Simulator (IWTS). CIJW School utilises the Infantry Weapons Training Simulator (IWTS) to train the trainees on honing their firing skills. The simulator includes actual weapons like an assault rifle, a light machine gun and a rocket launcher which have been modified to fire without actual ammunition but provide actual feel of the firing to the firers. The targets are simulated through a computer system in which idle as well as mobile targets are projected on screens with flexibility of simulating jungle, semi urban and urban terrain. Simulation of civilians in the targets is also done which trains the trainees in firing during hostage situations as well as when insurgents/ terrorists have merged with the crowd. A real time assessments assist the firers to improve their firing without going on actual ranges and expending ammunitions. At the same time, the versatile simulation prepares the firers in various kinds of terrain and situations encountered in Counter Insurgency/ Terrorism operations.

IED Hall. The IED hall at CIJW School has preserved a large number of different kinds of IEDs and their mechanism. These are updated from time to time. It educates students on the aspects of general awareness, detection, fabrication and disposal of IEDs. This Hall facilitates in making the trainees comprehend the mechanics involved in the IED warfare.

The IED Trail.    The IED Trail is an area developed in an innovative way by the CIJW School keeping in mind requirement of realistic IED training based on past IED encounters/incidents.  The trainees encounter different types of IEDs while negotiating the trail placed at various locations on pathway, trees, railway track and in the habitat. The IED trail is approximately 300 meters in length with IEDs laid in extremely diverse  design containing various mechanisms of initiation, detonation, penetration and explosive loads.  The trainees encounter multiple IEDs while negotiating the trail, which they have to detect, identify and suggest the remedial measures.

Technovation Hall. The ever evolving technology provides for various equipment and tools designed for civilian use which can be employed for conduct of military operations also with minor innovations. CIJW School carries out study of such latest off the shelf technological equipment and tools to study feasibility of innovating and modifying them for use in Counter Insurgency/ Terrorism operations. These innovations are displayed in the Technovation Hall in order to acquaint the trainees with these equipment and tools. The trainees, in turn, carry these ideas with them in their respective units and formations and these innovations get utilised by the environment.
