SEMINAR, 2023

The Institute had conducted a seminar on “EVOLUTION & FUTURE OF MILITARY JURISPRUDENCE – AN INDIAN ARMY PERSPECTIVE” in hybrid mode, under the aegis of Headquarters Army Training Command. To grace the occasion Hon’ble Ms Justice Hima Kohli, Judge Supreme Court, Mr R Venkataramani, Learned Attorney General of India, Lt Gen B S Raju, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, Vice Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen SS Mahal, GOC-in-C, ARTRAC, Judge Advocate General of all the three services (Army, Air Force & Navy), other Senior Army Officers and Veterans of JAG’s Department were in attendance. The gathering also included Sitting Judges of Supreme Court and Delhi High Court, Judicial Members of AFT and other civil dignitaries who shared their expert knowledge on the subject. The purpose of the seminar was to take a holistic perspective of the evolution of military law in India, to discuss how it has withstood in reinforcing the discipline, to generate lessons from erstwhile and contemporary challenges faced and suggest the way forward for strengthening the existing military laws so as to align the laws with the Global Military Jurisprudence.

UNIT CITATION 

The Institute was awarded with the prestigious General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Army Training Command Unit Citation on Army Day, 2023 for imparting unparalleled training in Military Law. The Institute has been awarded the Unit Citation for the first time in 33 years.  The Institute is manned by officers belonging to the Judge Advocate General’s Department, which is the legal wing of the Indian Army.
