Lt Gen PS Minhas, AVSM

1.    Lt Gen Paramjit Singh Minhas, AVSM is currently the Comdt of Officers’ Training Academy, Gaya. He hails from a service background. He is an alumnus of Punjab Public School, Nabha and NDA, Khadakwasla. He passed out from IMA, Dehradun where he was awarded the coveted Sword of Honour for the best all-round performance. He has the unique honour of being the ACA at both NDA and IMA and passing out as ACC and AUO at these training institutes respectively. He also commanded the POP at  NDA  and  IMA  which  were  coincidently  reviewed by Late Gen AS Vaidya, PVSM, MVC**, AVSM, ADC.

2.    He was commissioned as second generation Officer into the Central India Horse, a famous Armoured Regiment of the Indian Army, in Dec 1985. The General has excelled in all courses, he has attended, having stood First in Five of them. During his service career spanning four decades, he has tenanted important Command, Staff and Instructional appointments both in India and abroad. He has served with United Nations Force (UNIFIL) on Lebanon - Israel border and has attended the prestigious National War College Course at Washington DC in USA. He is M.Sc in Defence and Strategic Studies in India and M.Sc in National Security Strategy from Maryland, USA.

3.    Earlier in his career, he served as Brigade Major of the Mountain Brigade opposite Chinese on the Line of Actual Control, been an Armoured Brigade Commander, an Armoured Division GOC and an Area (HQ MB Area) GOC. Before assuming the appointment of Commandant of Officers’ Training Academy, Gaya, he has commanded 12 Corps (Desert Corps). For his professional diligence, the General Officer has been awarded two GOC-in-C and one VCOAS Commendations Cards.

4.    Mrs Aruna Minhas his wife has done her hotel management in UK and French from Lausanne in Switzerland. She is presently the Chairperson, FWO, OTA Gaya. The couple have two children both alumni of Mayo College, Ajmer. The daughter is pursuing her law degree at London and son will be joining SIMS, Pune for pursuing his MBA.

5.    The General Officer is fond of travelling, having visited 20 countries both in official and personal capacity, besides his passion for pet dogs which includes three Labradors and one Welsh Corgi. He has taken over reins as Commandant of Officers Training Academy, Gaya wef 6 April 2022.
