VISION

To be a Centre of Excellence and repository for combat training encompassing all facets of High Altitude Warfare.

ROLE

The role of High Altitude Warfare School is to function as Indian Army nodal instructional faculty for specialized training and dissemination of approved techniques in Mountain, High Altitude and Snow Warfare.

MISSION

Train Indian Army troops to form Mountain Warrior Teams capable of accomplishing any mission in High Altitude Area by inculcating the following skills.

Rock Craft.   Rock craft, knowledge and use of rock craft equipment, cliff climbing & cliff assault techniques, mountain stream crossing, High Altitude survival and casualty evacuation.

Snow Craft.  Skiing with battle loads, technique of Ski patrolling, negotiating avalanche prone areas and avalanche rescue, winter survival & casualty evacuation in snow bound areas.

Ice Craft. Negotiation of glaciated areas interspersed with deep crevasses, ice walls & avalanche prone slopes.
