Lieutenant General JS Sidana, AVSM has taken over as the 33rd DGEME and Sr Col Commandant of the Corps of EME on 01 Apr 2024. Prior to taking over as DGEME, the General was Commandant of Military College of EME for a duration of two years. 

The General Officer is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and was commissioned into the Corps of EME from IMA, Dehradun on 14 Dec 1985. The General has had an exceptional academic record right through his career.  Amongst the all arms courses, the General Officer has done Junior Command, Senior Command, Higher Defence Management Course and the Advanced Professional Programme in Public Administration Course. He has excelled on the technical courses which include the Degree Engineering, Workshop Company Commanders' Course, SO (EME) and the Officers Advanced Electronic Course in Radar Systems. His academic credentials include a Masters in Management Studies from Osmania University, M.Tech from IIT Kanpur and Master of Philosophy from Punjab University. 

During his illustrious career spanning over 38 years, the General has held a variety of important regimental, command, instructional and staff appointments. The General has been the MGEME of HQ Central Command, commanded a prestigious Army Base Wksp and EME Centre, besides being the GM (Production) at Army Base Workshop. He has been on staff as the Col EME in Command HQ, Col Q in Sub Area, and DDG MISO at Army HQ, besides tenanting a high tech appointment at Simulator Development Division. 

The General was awarded the prestigious Ati Vishisht Sewa Medal (AVSM) on the occasion of Republic Day 2024 for his dedication, professionalism and engineering excellence. He has also been the recipient of five Commendation Cards, namely GOC-in-C ARTRAC (twice), GOC-in-C Northern Command, GOC-in-C Eastern Command and GOC-in-C Central Command for distinguished services rendered during his chequered career.
