Infrastructure

1.    Trg Infrastructure.

(a)    Takshasila.       Takshasila is an important archaeological site of Ancient India and is currently in modern-day Pakistan. It contains the ruins of the Gandharan city of Takshasila (also Takkasila or Taxila) an important Vedic/Hindu and Buddhist centre of learning from the 6th century BC to the 5th century. The ‘seat of learning’ for all students, this training block provides state-of -art facilities for conducting classroom training. It encompasses state of art class room, training labs and faculty offices. It acts as a central hub for controlling all training actives.

(b)    Kurukshetra Trg A.     Kurukshetra is a place of myths, legends, great battles, empires and the canvas of the epic Mahabharata. It is also the birth place of the most sacred text of the Hindus, the Bhagwad Gita. For centuries it has been considered the battle ground of the brave. The complex where theoretical and practical knowledge amalgamate. It has training ground, simulators, equipment stripping rooms, and classroom variant trainers. Essentially the 'On Ground' training is imparted here.

 (c)    Gopalpur Seaward Firing Rg (GSFR).     GSFR is the only seaward firing rg of IA where AAD units & courses carry out firing each yr. The GSFR is proposed to be upgraded to similar specs of ITR Chandipur to cater to firing of extended rg AD msls in the future.

2.    Class Room Variants (CRVs) and Simulators(Smls).

(a)    CRVs for Radar. The complete rdr sys, with help of OEM,     has been been dismantled into maj assys and assembled as CRV, enabling simultaneous trg of entire cl. The College has functional CRVs of TCR (REPORTER & 3D TCR), FC Rdr (FWCS, USFM) & AD SP eqpts. The trg on CRV is quite akin to trg on op eqpts.

CRV : REPORTER                          CRV : FWCS

(b)    Gun Smls.    Smls of Guns and Wpn Sys provide realistic trg and to enhance op confidence of the gnrs. The smls have facility to record and store the performances of the     gnrs which can be viewed subsequently to maint performance data of the gnr.

ZU 23 mm Sml                 Upgraded L70 Sml

    (c)    Msl Smls.    Fwg msl smls are avbl at the Army AD College :-

        (i)    Igla 1M Msl Smls.   Trainer Sml and 9F859 Universal Complex Sml (UCS)    to impart realistic trg to firers on Igla 1M Msl. These can simulate various firing     conditions, tgt mvres, background clutter and scenarios while providing facility to record and play back the launch cycle for assessing and correcting the performance of firers.

VSHORADS Sml                      KONUS Sml

(ii)    Akash Wpn Sys Sml (AWSS).     AWSS is part of trg aggregates of the latest     Akash Wpn Sys. AWSS is capb of imparting real time trg under intense EW envt to the oprs. The sys provides realistic trg to oprs in comd, cont and op of various comd posts on tac scenarios in simulated EW envt.

(iii)    EW Trg.    EW trg of rdr oprs in ‘working through jx’ is a key functional area of sensor related trg. The Cl Room EW Sml (CREWS) software recreates the tech sigs of various types of rdrs in soft mode with the rdr switches and conts available virtually   on the display. Once activated, the CREWS eqpt produces innumerable No of ECM attacks in an unpredictable manner which can be offered to the students as jx scenarios in their rdr op. Not only can an entire cl be trained at one time with indl terminals, but also, the entire trg content is programmable and replayable.

(d)    Electronic Lab.    Equipped with state of the art experimental equipments and demonstrators for radar system, electronic warfare systems, digital and analogue electronics, fibre optics and communication systems including satellite communication.

(e)    Computer Lab.    Consisting of 30 work stations to provide a one to one student to machine ratio. Internet and LAN facility is available. Sectionised models of hardware are displayed to teach configurations of computers.

(f)    Control & Reporting Complex.    It provides training on the Tactical Air Defence Integrated Display System. Here an operator gets trained to carry out threat evaluation, target prioritization, weapon designation and to pass data duly corrected for parallax.

3.    Aima Auditorium.    The auditorium has been named after late Maj Sushil Aima, KC who sacrificed his life while fighting militants in a dense forest near village Kopra, District Poonch, J& K to repulse an attack on army post. The fully air conditioned auditorium is being used extensively for conduct of Central Lectures, Guest Lecture and Presentations under Knowledge Development Programme.

4.    Srikumar Hall.    The conference hall at Army Air Defence College has been christened on the name of Late Maj P Srikumar, KC, who sacrificed his life while leading a Ghatak Platoon in 'OP SCORPION' undertaken by 27 RR Battalion. The hall is equipped with state of art environment control and high resolution projection system. All seminars and conferences are held here.

5.    Vayu Raksha Hall.    Vayu Raksha Hall has been conceptualised to serve as an inspirational hall for all Air Defence Warriors, especially the course students as it not only commemorates our brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice but it also a tribute to the highest level of professionalism exibited by our Air Defence Warriors.

6.    Nalanda Library.    Nalanda was a Buddhist center of learning from 427 BC to 1197 BC. It has been called "one of the first great universities” in recorded history. Nalanda was one of the world's first residential universities. The university was considered an architectural masterpiece. The library was located in a nine storied building where meticulous copies of texts were produced. Hence the library in the college is called the Nalanda Library. 'Reading Maketh A Man ' so goes an old age adage. Books and reference material on a plethora of topic catering to myriad requirements have been made available at the Central Library 'Nalanda'. For the cyber savvy internet connections are also available.

7.    Sports Infrastructure.    Adequate sports trg facilities are available in the Army AD College for both the course students and the permt staff. Some of the maj sports facilities are shown below :-

Basket Ball Courts                                                                                            JCO / OR Sports Complex
