OLYMPIANS

|
|
1. Sub Devi Singh (2 JAT). Devi Singh has to his credit numerous laurels both at the national and the international level in the field of freestyle wrestling. He is the first Olympian from the Regt to have represented the nation in the 1956 Summer Olympics at Melbourne (Australia) in 73 kg Freestyle Wrestling.

2. Brig Labh Singh Sitara (1 JAT LI). An Athlete of par excellence, Labh Singh Sitara represented the Nation in the Triple & Broad Jump event during the 1964 Tokyo Summer Olympics. His achievement include 3 Gold medals in Indo-German Meet of 1964 and 65, Bronze in 1966 Asian Games at Thailand and Captaining the Indian Contingent at the IX Commonwealth Games, Edinburg 1970. He is also the recipient of the Dhyan Chand Award for life time contribution to sports in 1994.

3. Sub Maj & Hony Capt Bhim Singh (5 JAT). An Asian Games Champion, Bhim Singh won Gold medal in the high jump in 1966 Asian Games and Silver medal at the 1970 Asian Games both at Bangkok. Sub Maj & Hony Capt Bhim Singh is a former Olympian who participated in the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico in Athletics (High Jump) event.

4. Sub Maj & Hony Capt Mukhtiyar Singh, VSM (2 JAT). He attained International recognition when he won Gold in Wrestling at the VII Commonwealth Games in 1966, a feat which he again repeated during the IX Commonwealth Games at Edinburg in 1970. He represented the country in 1968 Olympics and the 1972 Olympic Games.

5. Hav Chandgi Ram, Padma Shri. A freestyler wrestler Chandgi Ram won Gold medal in the 1970 Asian Games in Bangkok in the 100 kg freestyle wrestling event and represented the country in the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, West Germany. Along with amateur wrestling, he was very active in the traditional wrestling, where he won all major titles, including the Hind Kesari, Bharat Kesari, Rustom-e-Hind and Maha Bharat Kesari. In 1969 he was conferred the Arjuna Award for his achievements in the traditional wrestling, two years later he was conferred with the country’s fourth highest civilian award – Padma Shri.

6. Nb Sub Kheta Ram (6 JAT). A two time Asian games finalist, Nb Sub Kheta Ram has bagged numerous medals in the 5 km and 10 km track events including Gold at the Indian Grand Prix in 2013 and 2014 Federation games where he broke the 7 years old meet record in the 5 km track event. In 2014 he decided to train and run the marathon distance leaving the intermediate track events as he has been doing before. Having won the Bronze at the Mumbai Standard Chartered Marathon, he qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics where he gave his personal best time to finish 26th in the Men’s Marathon event.

7. Hav Sandeep Kumar (16 JAT). Sandeep Kumar joined 16th Bn the JAT Regt in 2006.Hav Sandeep Kumar is the current national record holder in the 50 Km Men’s race walk. He participated in the 50 Km Men’s race walk event at the 2016 Rio Olympics and gave a spirited performance by finishing the race in 35th position.

8. Hav Ravinder Khatri (19 JAT). A three times services Gold Medalist and a national wrestling champion, he has to his credit many National and International medals; Bronze in Jr Asian Wrestling Championship, Silver in Asian Olympics Qualifier in 2016 and Commonwealth Wrestling Championship. Ravinder Khatri participated in the 2016 Rio Olympics in the 85 kg Greco Roman category creating history by becoming the first services wrestlers and only the second Indian in more than 10 years to participate in the Greco Roman category in the Olympics.

9. Sub Maj & Hony Capt Bhim Singh (PU- 5 JAT). He was conferred with the Arjuna Award in 1967.

10. Sub Maj & Hony Capt Mukhtiyar Singh, VSM (PU-2 JAT). He was conferred with the Arjuna Award for his contribution to the sport of wrestling in 1967.

|
11. Nb Sub Sandeep Kumar (PU 21 JAT). He made the nation proud by winning Gold Medal in Archery in the 17th Asian Games at Incheon (South Korea) in 2014. He was conferred with the Arjuna Award in 2015 for his outstanding accomplishment in the sport of Archery.

12. Lt Col Ranveer Singh Jamwal, VSM** (PU- 11 JAT). Lt Col RS Jamwal has to his credit of leading innumerous Mountaineering expedition for the Regt as well for the Indian Army. He hold rare feat of summiting the world’s highest peak “The Everest” three times.
