1. All gunners are conversant with the history of Regiment of Artillery, but only a few really now about the Artillery Depot Regiment, an important constituent of the Regiment. This link is an endeavour to give a brief resume on the history, charter and the achievements of Artillery Depot Regiment.
2. The roots of the Artillery Depot Regiment originates from the period when the Indian Mountain Artillery and the Royal Artillery were reorganised in 1859 consequent to the administration of India being transferred to the crown. The Depots then were responsible for holding heavy baggage of units which moved for field service, holding the umeedwars and conduct of training.
3. The history of the Depot, Centre and Records are deeply intertwined. The recorded history of the Artillery Depot Regiment draws on the legacy from the Royal Artillery and that of the Indian Artillery thereafter.
4. Artillery Depot moved to present location on 12 Apr 1966 and started functioning with independent identity.
