
DG-1D section of the Directorate General Armed Forces Medical Services deals with technical training aspects related to AFMS personnel (including Army Dental Corps and Military Nursing Services). It is the controlling authority for admission process (UG & PG) and training of civilian doctors who join PG Courses in AFMS institutions. This section is the controlling authority for :-
Role.
(a) Administration of AFMC, its Peace Establishment, posting /transfers, temp duty. To initiate proposal for various projects in relation to accommodation, stores and equipment etc and to secure govt sanctions in financial matters.
(b) Conduct of AFMC MBBS entrance written test at 55 stations with more than one venue in most of the stations spread all over the country. This entrance test of approx 1,00000 aspirants is followed by interview of short listed candidates and medical examination of selected candidates. In all 130 candidates are selected out of which 25 are girls.
(c) Conduct of Combined Admission Test for Post Graduation (CAT PG) entrance at 18 Centres for admission to Post Graduate courses at AFMC, Pune and other training hospitals.
(d) Short training and courses for AFMS officers in civil institutions to update their professional knowledge.
(e) Training of foreign candidates, civilians and Para Mil officers and staff in AFMC and other training hospitals for Post Graduation, MBBS and Para medical courses.
(f) Deputation of AFMS officers for training abroad under various Schemes /fellowships /plans.
(g) Study leave of Medical Officers, selection, interaction with various institutions in sponsoring and monitoring of their training.
(h) MCI / NBE recognition of various training hospitals for Post Graduate studies (including allied specialties) and internship.
(j) Recognition of various training hospitals for Post Graduate studies and internship.
(k) Grading and Classification of medical officers.
(l) Administration of Specialist Pool for medical officers. (Inclusion/exclusion)
(m) Grant of Specialist Pay/Postgraduate allowances to AFMS officers.
(n) Monitoring of professional training of AFMS officers.
(o) Holding of Selection, Grading and Classification (SGC) committee meetings.
(p) Updating/Revision of Training, Grading and Classification (TGC) rules.
(q) Approval of AFMS officers to accept examiner ships of various recognized professional bodies.
(r) Monitoring of Court Cases pertaining to training aspects.
