Field Post Office is the basic unit of the APS. Headquarters upto Brigade and Sub Area levels, Air Formations, Border Road Task Forces and Assam Rifle Units are authorized for FPO services. FPOs are under technical control of Postal Br of respective Corps HQ. All FPOs are linked with 02 x Central Base Post Offices for receipt and despatch of mail.

Central Base Post Offices - c/o 56 APO pertains to 1 Central Base Post Office and c/o 99 APO pertains to 2 Central Base Post Office. APS safeguard security of loc of the units while dispatching mail. Even incompletely addressed and undelivered mail are traced out at CBPOs. CBPOs function as Head Office, PSD and Philatelic Bureau for all the FPOs under control.

APS Centre located is a Cat ‘B’ Est responsible for imparting Basic Military and Technical Training to personnel of APS Corps. Orientation training is also being imparted to Officers deputed from Department of Posts, Min of Communications.

APS Corps is headed by Additional Director General APS, QMG’s Br, IHQ of MoD in the rank of Major General and he is assisted by Dy DG APS in the rank of Brigadier.
