Brigadier Rajiv Chauhan, an alumnus of National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla was commissioned into the Regiment of Artillery in June 1992.

He is a Silver Gunner in young officers course and has excelled in all the courses thereafter. He stood first in Junior Command Course, got Dean’s Motivation Award in Technical Staff Officers Course (TSOC) for getting ‘Distinction’ grading and stood first in Foreign Language Course. Officer has done prestigious Higher Defence Management Course (HDMC) & National Defence College (NDC) Course.

He has commanded a Field Regiment and a Composite Artillery Brigade. His staff appointments includes Assistant Adjutant & Quarter Master General Mountain Brigade in High Altitude Area, Senior Defence Special in National Security Council Secretariat, Deputy Commander of an Infantry Brigade in High Altitude Area and Colonel Military Secretary.

He has been Brigadier A, Headquarters Command before assuming the appointment of Commandant & Chief Executive Instructor Artillery Centre, Hyderabad.
