Training/Recruitment

Training Battalion is responsible for the administration and training of all recruits.

Somnath Ground

The main Parade Ground in Dulikhet was a racecourse and Polo Ground, when the British troops used to be located in Ranikhet, and officers kept their personal ‘Chargers’, to ride. After arrival of the Kumaon Regimental Centre in May 1948, this ground was named after the first PVC winner of the country; the hero of the Battle of Badgam, Major Som Nath Sharma, PVC (Posthumous), 4 Kumaon. It has become the nodal point of many major events, besides being the main Parade Ground of the Regimental Centre for all training activities, and witness to many historical events - the colour presentation parades, reunions and sweat and toil of thousands of recruits, who proudly and firmly took their first step as young soldiers of our two Regiments, and were privileged to wear the Green or the Golden hackle.

Shaitan Singh Ground

Named after the second PVC winner and hero of Rezangla, Maj Shaitan Singh, PVC (Posthumous), 13 Kumaon, is the training ground for Naulakha and Butchery Companies.
