History

Military Intelligence Training School was raised on 20 Jan 1941 by Major J Campbell in a Killarney Hotel, Karachi. The first course with a strength of 20 students officers started on 01 Feb 1941 at Killarney Hotel, Karachi. In Jul 1947, The Intelligence Corps School and Depot was ordered to move from Karachi to Murree. The Indian share of Intelligence School and Depot left Cliffden, Murree hills for Camp Rawalpindi. After few days, the party moved from Rawalpindi and came to Ambala via Sialkot. Initially it was decided to move the School from Ambala to Lucknow, however it was later changed in favour of Mhow. Thus the School was ordered to move from Ambala to Mhow on 01 Nov 1947. In September 1952 the Intelligence School again moved from Mhow to Pune. In Dec 1983, the Institute was re-designated as the Military College of Intelligence & Depot, and subsequently the institute was named as the Military Intelligence Training School and Depot on 29 Feb 1984.
