5.     Appointment to a SSC will carry a reserve liability for 5 years or till an officer attains the age of 55 years, whichever is earlier. The date of commencement of reserve liability will be the date of relinquishment of commission as notified in the Gazette of India. The AMC officers carrying reserve liability shall obtain permission of the Govt of India through theoffice of the DGAFMS before proceeding abroad and /or acquiring citizenship of foreign countries. Officers proceeding abroad for post-graduate studies will, however, not be required to obtain separate permission of Government of India for accepting any paid appointment which forms part of and is pre-requisite for preparing for the post-graduate examination. Permission for acceptance of an employment independent of the post-graduate studies under a foreign Government will be necessary in terms of AI 2/S/74.
