
Hang Gliding and Micro
Hang Gliding was introduced in the Corps in 1978. Powered hang gliders were introduced in the team in 1985. A power hang gliding cum Microlight Rally was organised by the Corps of Signals from Patiala to Bagdogra as a grand finale in Mar 1996. After a breathtaking nine days of flying in rough weather form, the flyers display team of Aero - sports reached Bagdogra to a tumultuous welcome. Hang Gliding courses conducted at Deolali. Micro Light Flying courses conducted at Mhow and Gaya.

Sky Diving & Base Jumping

Lt Col Mayank Nagpal is a member of the Army Adventure Skydiving team and has 1500 plus skydiving jumps including over 125 wingsuit jumps. He is an International & National Skydiving Judge. He has been trained in Advanced Skydiving, Wingsuit flying and Wind tunnel at Dubai under the aegis of Army Adventure Wing and is one of the very few officers to have performed freefall jumps with the elite US Special Forces in a joint exercise. He has been the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the HALO (High Altitude Low Opening) Wing at 51 Special Action Group (SAG), NSG and holds a ‘D’ license and Coach rating from the United States Parachute Association (USPA), a ‘D’ license in parachuting from the Federation Aeronautique International (FAI) and the World Air Sports Federation. The officer has around 200 BASE jumps under his belt and has been awarded ASIA, LIMCA & INDIA Record in BASE jumping and Sky Diving. He is also a certified Rescue SCUBA diver, mountaineer and paragliding pilot. He is presently serving with DG Signals (Signals 9).
Sports and Adventure - A Way of Life for Maj Ankita Choudhary

Running with passion
Maj Ankita Choudhary was commissioned in the Corps of Signals in Sep 2013 after doing her Bachelors of Technology in Electronics and Communications Engineering. A sportswoman by disposition, she recently won the Mhow Mini Marathon and was runners up in the Infantry Marathon, Mhow and the Indore Marathon. She is also a keen basketball, badminton, volleyball, squash and tennis player.
She is an avid adventurist and has indulged in extreme activities like scuba diving, skydiving and mountaineering. She is qualified on the Basic Mountaineering Course from Army Mountaineering Institute. She has participated in two Army expeditions including an expedition to Mt Bhagirathi II where the team created a Limca Book of Records for by performing yoga at 19,000 ft on the summit of Mount Bhagirathi II. She is also a PADI certified Open Water Scuba Diver from Komodo, Indonesia. Her enthusiasm and passion for sports and adventure is truly inspirational for all of us.
