THE GRAND OLD CENTENARIAN ASC VETERAN : IC-10890A LT COL DN SHARMA

1.      Born in 1919, Lt Col DN Sharma completed 100yrs of indomitable age on 01 Sep 19. IC-10890A Lt Col DN Sharma was commissioned in the Royal Indian Army Service Corps on 28 Aug 1949 from IMA Dehradun.  He has served in Supply Depot Rawal Pindi an Armd Div in Sialkot, 8 Inf Div Regt in the RIASC to name of few in his long army life. During his foreign tenure, the officer served in Iran, Iraq, Italy and Africa. He is very fluent in Italian language. During his tenure in Italy that he was also offered a house if he went back to Italy.

2.      Maj DN Sharma has been an excellent Hockey player and has also played Hockey with Dhyanchand. However, he could not continue the same as he met with an accident and had an injured knee. He write Urdu poetry for which he has been felicitated by Dr SN Sharma President of Poetry, the Rajasthan Urdu Academy and by Shri Ashok Gehlot, Chief Minister of Rajasthan for his contribution to Urdu Poetry.

3.      He served in various ASC appointments till he finally hung his uniform on 30 Nov 1971. A living soul who has actually witnessed the various stages of transformation from Royal Indian Army Service Corps to Indian Army Service Corps to Army Service Corps.
