Sree Murugan Temple

 During 1949-50, Lt Col AT Scott, OBE, the British Commandant, approved the plan for the Temple to meet the religious needs of the men and their families. The foundation stone was laid in October 1949 by Lt Col GF De’Souza (later Brig) the first Indian Commandant.

In 2003, Sree Murugan Temple was constructed at Ava Hill for the troops of Ava Hill

The temple was opened by Lt Col RS Noronha, MC*, the next Commandant. Idols of Sree Murugan, also known as Sree Subramaniaswamy and Maha Ganapathy were carved by experts from Thanjavur.
