
LT GEN KANWAR VINOD KUMAR, AVSM,
SIGNAL OFFICER-IN-CHIEF AND COL COMDT CORPS OF SIGNALS
1. Lt Gen Kanwar Vinod Kumar, AVSM, an alumnus of RIMC Dehradun and National Defence Academy, was commissioned in the Corps of Signals on 14 Jun 1986.
2. The General Officer is a graduate of Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), Wellington, Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth USA and the College of Defence Management (CDM), Secunderabad.
3. In his 37 years of military career, he has tenanted important command and staff appointments covering different types of terrains and operational environments. He had the privilege of Commanding Divisional Signal Regiments in both Eastern and Western Sectors. He has held important staff appointments at every echelon from Division Headquarters to Army Headquarters. He has been the General Staff Officer (GSO)-2 (Operations) of a Division along the Western Borders, Director (CAB) at COAS Secretariat, apart from having two tenures with the Military Secretary branch. He has been an instructor at Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun and DSSC. He has been the Chief Signal Officer of a Corps in the Eastern Theatre and has tenanted the appointment of Chief Signal Officer, Northern Command for about two years. The General officer has also been Commandant, Signal Training Centre (STC) and Additional Director General of Tactical Communication at Directorate General of Signals.
4. The officer, for his illustrious service has been conferred with Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card and GOC-in-C Commendation Cards.
5. The General Officer was elected as the 69th Colonel Commandant of Corps of Signals with effect from 01 Jul 22. He was the ADG, NCC Directorate at Chandigarh from 01 Feb 23 to 28 Aug 23 before assuming the appointment of Signals Officer-in-Chief with effect from 29 Aug 23.
