The Infantry (India) Journal



Do not lament the death of a Warrior killed in the battlefield as those who sacrifice their lives in war are honoured in heaven.

The Infantry (India) is one of the most popular Army publication in India. It acts as a professional mouthpiece of the Infantry fraternity. It is a journal of the Infantry, brought out by the Faculty of Studies, for the Infantry fraternity in India and abroad. It aims at providing an open forum for exchange of ideas and thoughts related to infantry, promote thinking and generate discussions for constant improvement of the arm. The Infantry (India) has a rich collection of articles published in its various issue since its inception in 1950. Eminent personalities like Field Marshal Lord Wavell have contributed to the journal. It is a registered journal and has more than 10,000 life members from the officer community and has 800 units registered for life membership.

 

All infantry officers commissioned since 1981 are on its permanent life membership list. The journal is popular not only in India but in various foreign countries as well. It is also dispatched to India’s Defence and Military Attaches posted abroad. A digitized version of the Journal was released on 10 July 2003 by the then Chief of the Army Staff, General NC Vij, during the 27th Infantry Commanders’ Conference. The CD has been designed for easy and fast search of all articles and features published till date.

The contents can be searched from a common index covering all the issues, by the year of publication, title of the articles, and author of the article or subject of interest. The digitization is one more step in the efforts of the highly competent editorial team to provide international standard facilities to the large readership towards the furtherance of their knowledge. This digitized version is updated every two years. The Journal is published biannually in June and December. The views expressed in the Journal are those of individual authors and not necessarily of the Infantry School, Mhow.

Subscription

The life subscription price which includes postage is Rs 1100/- for Individual life members and Rs. 1500/- for Units/Messes/Institutions (including CDs covering Journals from 1950 onwards). Annual subscription is Rs. 100/- for individuals and Rs. 120/- for Units/Messes/Institutions. For Annual/Lifetime Subscription the Demand Draft may be forwarded in favour of The Commandant, Infantry School, Mhow (M.P)-453441, payable at State Bank of Indore branch Mhow or Oriental Bank of Commerce branch Mhow, addressed to The Editor, Infantry (India), Mhow (MP) - 453441.

Contributions for The Infantry (India)

The contributors can contribute their thoughts and views in various sections of the journal i.e Professional, General, Military History, Technology, Book Reviews and Cartoons. The articles, ideas and thoughts on contemporary military matters relating to Infantry are selected for publication as per the standing operating procedure, by The Editorial Board. Copyrights of this journal are reserved by the Infantry School, Mhow.

Incentives

The Editorial Board provides attractive incentives in the form of Honorarium for original and quality write-ups and sketches to the Infantry (India).

  •  Full articles - Up to Rs. 1500/-

  • Critique/Book Reviews/Case Studies - Up to Rs. 300/-

Guidelines for Contributors – The Infantry (India)

Format of Articles

  • Type in double Space.

  • No abbreviations to be used.

  • Length for a full article not to exceed 2000-2500 words & for Book review not more than 600 words.

  • Include Bibliography/End notes as required.

Submission

  • Send one ‘hard copy’ along with CD prepared on Microsoft Word (MS Word).

  • With the Introduction of the new format, colour photograph may be included in the article. You will also be required to forward a copy of the photograph for publication.

  • Enclose author’s biodata and two passport size photographs.

  • Attach following certificates (SAO 3/S/2001 refers) :-

  • ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the superior authority which states :-

  • “I have perused the article “ (title) ” submitted by “ (authors name) ” and I have no objection to it being published in The Infantry (India) journal.

  • Authors Certificate : I certify that “I have not used any official information and/or material or any information obtained by me in my official capacity in writing the article titled “(title) ”

  • Place : (Signature of the author)

  • Date : (Countersigned by superior authority)

  • Articles must reach the Editor by 15 Apr/15 Oct for June/December issues respectively.

Editing

  • The Editorial Committee reserves the right to suitably edit/modify the article without reference to the Author.
