Infrastructure

 
1.     Armoured Corps Centre and School has a very well laid out and developed training infrastructure for training young as also seasoned tankmen.  The infrastructure consists of open ranges for training tankmen in various aspects of maneuver, fire power and protection, the three basic tenants of the armour warfare.  The Karjune Khare (KK) ranges consists of open ranges which are available for firing of tanks main gun and secondary armaments.  The Koparvadi Training ground is another training area for imparting maneuver training to the tankmen at different stages of their career.  A large no of simulators have also been procured and are being utilized for imparting realistic and efficient training in all the tenant of tank warfare.  All the Schools, Wings and Regiments also boast of a large no of Cut Models which are utilized for imparting an in-depth training to all the trainees.  Large no of Training Labs have also been established, which are equipped with modern infrastructure for improving the effectiveness of the trainers.  The class rooms have been equipped with the latest IT infrastructures as also a state of the art Data Centre has been established in ACC&S for ensuring a seamless and secure functioning of Campus Wide Area Network.

2.     As part of Modernization of Training Infra the following have been developed :-
 
(a)     Labs for Technical Training. The following labs have been created for smooth conduct of the courses: -
 
(aa)     Mechanical, Electronics and Pneumatics.
 
(ab)     IOT, AI & Mini Drone.
 
(ac)     Robotics.
 
(ad)     SDR Trainer.
 
(ae)     Simulation antenna trainer.
 
(af)      Engineering Drawing Lab.
 
(ag)     Mini Workshop.
 
(ah)     3D Printer.
 
 
(b)     Tech Library.      Tech libraries have been set up in all Wings. These act as  a central repository of various research books and periodicals related to AFV tech and project studies submitted by students. There has been a deliberate effort to keep these libraries updated on a regular basis. All projects have been converted into digital format for easy access to course students as reference material. 
 
(c)     Self Study Rooms.      These rooms are utilised by course students for studying/ preparing lectures related to General Principles (GP). The room is equipped with soft copies as well as the hard copies of all the topics of GP.  Computers with internet connection have been provided to enable JCOs to carry out open source study on the internet.
 
(d)     3D Printers with Scanners.      3D printers have been procured by all wings to assist course students in making working models of their projects / innovations.

3.     A No of training aggregates have been intro to facilitate the training effectiveness of the establishment as under: - 
 
(a)     The Mini Training Area has been augmented with miniature AFVs/ tps for ‘hands on’ practical by students of YOs, Recce and TCC Course.
 
(b)     FE Lab and CBRN programmable simulators have been introduced.
 
(c)     Additional quadcopters have been acquired to impart realistic ISR training to trainees during outdoor exercise.
 
(d)     Licensed versions of GIS software has been acquired for GIS training (terrain evaluation), that is imparted to all the tactical courses.
 
(e)     Incorporation of off the shelf wargaming software STEEL BEAST in the curriculum.
 
(f)      SANGRAM Automated wargaimg Module which previously was based only on ORT ex setting has now been upgraded to cater for desert ex setting also.
 
(g)     A rigorous survival training curriculum for Recce Course is being carried out. 
 
(h)     All major exercises are conducted on Force on Force model.

4.     Training Infrastructure.  In order to enhance the training content, enhancements & additions to the training infrastructure were carried out and are listed below: -
 
(a)     Virtual Simulator for T-90 & ALS (Automotive Aspects).   Virtual simulator for T-90 & ALS has been installed, wherein students can visualise complex sys / sub system in conjunct with cut models to achieve max training value. 
 
(b)     Tool and Lubricant Room.  Tool and Lubricant Room was created in Armament and Automotive Wing.
 
(c)     Navig Room. ALNS Navig Room has been established in Auto Wing to impart comprehensive training on handling and op of ALNS. 
 
(d)     Procurement of Sectionised Cut Models. New Sectionised cut models for MC Bullet and ALS Mk-IV have been procured and established as training aids.
 
(e)     Establishment of TTC Wing. The shifting of TTC course has been completed and the same was inspected by COS HQ ARTRAC LT Gen JS Sandhu, AVSM on 18 Jun 21. The Gen offr visited the TTC class rooms, Engineering drawing lab and Niche tech lab. The TTC -50 has thereafter commenced from 02 Feb 2022.
