1. Title. The title of the Association will be the Jat Regt Officers’ Association and will be referred to as JORA.
2. Eligibility for Membership. The following will be eligible to become members of the JORA:-
(a) Permt Membership. All offrs commissioned into JAT Regt incl Regt Commissioned Offrs (RCOs).
(b) Associate Membership.
(i) Other service offrs who serve with the Regt Centre/Bns on permt posting or on att.
(ii) Offrs of RR Bns and TA Bns (other than JAT Regt offrs) who apply for the same. Membership to be granted only on recommendation of the Commanding Offr and to be decided on case-to-case basis.
(iii) All widows of deceased members of JORA/pre-1985 widows of Regt Offrs. Who would, by default, become members without applying for membership.
(c) Honorary Membership.
(i) All members of JORA (UK).
(ii) Any eminent personality who has an association with the Regt in any capacity.
3. Objective. The Army Act provides for formation of a Regt Association for recreational purposes only. However, other allied objectives of the JORA will be as under :-
(a) Forge close links between the serving and retired offrs of the Regt.
(b) Keep members posted on the activities and achievements of the Regt through newsletters.
(c) Identify areas of mutual assistance between the members.
(d) Provide information which could help serving/retired officers in resettlement.
(e) Identify and periodically update measures to project the image of the Regt at Army and National levels.
(f) Organise a meeting once a year to review aforementioned objectives.
(i) Management Committee meeting - Annually.
(ii) General body meeting - Biannually.
4. Constitution. The JORA shall be constituted of the following :-
(a) Patron - All previous Cols of the Regt.
(b) President - Col of the Regt.
(c) Managing Committee.
(d) Members.

5. President. The Col of the Regt will be the President of the JORA who will invariably have the final say in all matters concerning the JORA.
6. Managing Committee. The managing committee will be appointed by the President to manage day-to-day affairs and interests of JORA and will function under his Presidentship. It will consist of the following :-
(a) Senior Vice President - To be elected from among the retired offrs biannually. [however, Lt Gen HB Kala, AVSM, PVSM, SC(Retd) has been elected as Senior Vice President for life]

7. The duties of the managing Committee shall be as follows :-
(a) Take major decisions affecting the JORA and its functioning with the approval of the President and make or alter rules of the JORA by additions, amendments and cancellations, subject to ratification by the General Body.
(b) To administer the affairs of the JORA.
(c) Incurring expenditure up to a maximum ceiling of Rs. 5,000/-. However, all expenditure incurred in the year will have to be rectified by the General Body in its annual meetings.
(d) General directions on investment of funds will be obtained in the General Body meeting.
(e) Determine the honorarium and salaries to be paid to the staff of JORA.
(f) Get the accounts audited by a chartered accountant and bring these before the General Body for its approval and passing.
(g) Maint records of all proceedings and decisions taken by the President and the managing committee.
(h) Deal with routine correspondence and maintain the office organization of the JORA.
(j) Maint and update roll of membership and the records and address of all members.
(k) Arrange Re-union, JORA dinner and other functions and inform all members about these, well in advance.
(l) Administer JORA funds by maintaining cash and banking accounts of all JORA activities.
(m) Collect subscriptions as laid down, acknowledge and account for the same.
(n) Arrange for printing and despatch of Newsletters to members.
(o) Submit accounts periodically, and not less than once a year for audit and for approval of the President.
(p) Keep all members of the JORA informed about the activities of the JORA, and provide a link between members for rendering of mutual assistance.
(q) As and when contribution from Bns and the Centre are received invest to the best advantage in the JORA fund.
8. Presence of at least 3 members shall constitute a quorum to take any decision on any matter by the managing committee. However, major decisions affecting the JORA will require approval of the President prior to the implementation of the decision. All actions taken will be brought before the General Body for its approval during meetings.
9. The decision shall be according to the vote of majority and in case of equality the President shall have a second casting vote.
10. In the absence of the President, the Comdt, Regt Centre may act as chairman on behalf of the President. Prior written approval of the President for such a meeting will be mandatory.
11. General Body. The General Body will consist of its members. The President and the Secretary of the managing committee will be the President and the Secretary of the General Body also.
12. Fees and Membership. Membership fee and subscription will be as under :-
(a) Membership fee will be Rs 2000/- wef 01 Jan 2015 which may be reviewed every year.
(b) Feedback from the envt points to a gen consensus for not instituting yearly subscriptions. However, the matter can be reviewed at a subsequent stage.
13. JORA Get-Together. A JORA get-together cum dinner will be organized once a year at a place selected by the President. The rules governing the same will be as follows :-
(a) All members will be informed at the earliest opportunity but not later than one month in advance, as to date and place of the get-together.
(b) Henceforth, charges per member attending a JORA Meet with family will be Rs. 1000/ for a couple, Rs. 500/- for a single member and Rs. 500/- per addl member.
(c) Approval of the President will be taken for all the expenses to be incurred in connection with the JORA meets.
Conclusion
14. The JORA is meant for all offrs of the JAT Regt and therefore maximum number of officers should become its members to foster the spirit of the JAT Regt which is unique in the Indian Army. Ours is an association whose future success will depend upon the evolutionary process through the years. The response of the members during the meetings has been positive and encouraging. The association will continue to depend upon the wisdom and experience of its members to make it an organization which others would like to emulate.

Associate & Honorary Members.
5. Widows or sons/daughters of the deceased members of the JORA will be admitted as associate members. Associate members will neither pay any membership fee nor will they have a right to vote.

6. The wards of JORA members may be gtd associate membership of JORA. For this they will have to apply for membership, which shall be gtd after screening by the JORA Executive Committee and payment of membership fees.
