Taking a leap forward into the arena of Welfare measures, The Madras Regiment established a hostel for the wards of JCOs and OR of Defence Personnel (All three services) who were either killed or disabled in War / Counter Insurgency Operations / Aid to civil authorities / actions attributable to military service. Later, wards of Regimental soldiers serving in field / operational areas and of the needy veterans were also made eligible.

Boys Hostel - Inaugurated by Gen KV Krishna Rao, PVSM, AVSM, the then COAS on 19 May 1982
AMAR THAMBI NILAYAM - GIRLS HOSTEL
Girls Hostel - Inaugurated by Lt Gen AS Rao, PVSM, AVSM, the then Colonel of the Regiment on 20 September 2001
ATN runs two separate hostels for Boys and Girls with the capacity of 80 boys and 24 girls
