The Ex-servicemen's Contribution Health Scheme (ECHS) has been launched with a view to provide quality Medicare to all ex-servicemen and their dependents, by making one time contribution as specified for Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and Other Ranks and at the same time eliminating load of ex-servicemen on Military Hospitals. The initial projection made to the Government was to raise approx 600 polyclinics in all districts with ex-servicemen population more than 2500.
As the name itself suggests, ECHS is a contributory scheme. On retirement, every service personnel will compulsorily become a member of ECHS by contributing his share. Similarly, Ex-servicemen can become members by making one time contribution, as under:
ECHS polyclinic Jaipur is one of the polyclinics which started functioning in the first phase of the scheme. It was raised on 01 March 04 as type ‘C’ polyclinic. The polyclinic was upgraded from type ‘C’ to type ‘B’ which was essential due to rapid increase of strength of ECHS members of Jaipur and Dausa districts. The polyclinic has been efficiently treating and referring the ECHS patients to empanelled hospital and diagnostic centres as and when required. The polyclinic has shifted to its present location on 15 January 2006. |
