RESCUE AND EVACUATION MISSION MT DRAUPADI KA DANDA (UTTARAKHAND) FROM 06-30 OCT 22

•     Surya Warriors of Ibex Brigade undertook Avalanche Rescue Operations at Mt Draupadi Ka Danda wef 06 – 30 Oct 22.

•     The rescue operations were undertaken by Army Specialist Rescue Teams, Medical Teams & Engineer Teams.

•     The teams recovered the mortal remains of 28 brave mountaineers after continuous and tireless effort of 25 days.

 
  
  
RESCUE OPERATION AT CHATTARPUR  (MADHYA PRADESH) ON 29 JUN 22
 

•      Dipendra Yadav, a five year old boy fell into a 30 feet deep open borewell at Chattarpur, MP on 29 Jun 2022.

•      He was rescued by the joint team of Army and District Administration including NDRF and Police after an eight hour long operation.

 

    

FIRE FIGHTING COLUMNS AT KASAULI (HIMACHAL PRADESH) ON 15 -16 MAY 2022
 

•      A massive forest fire broke out in the jungles of Kasauli. The quick reaction from the troops of Surya Command ensured no loss of life & controlled the fire from spreading towards the local villages. The medical team was present for any contingency. Efforts continued for two days (15-16  May 2022) to control the fire.

 
  
  
 
RESCUE AND EVACUATION MISSION BATAL (HP) & ADI KAILASH (UTTARAKHAND) ON 22 OCT 21
 

      Rescue & evacuation operations were launched by Indian Army to evacuate pilgrims/ tourists stuck at various remote places after a spell of bad weather in the higher reaches of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh on 22 Oct 21.

      65 tourists at Batal near Kunzum La & 30 pilgrims from Adi Kailash were rescued. First aid, food & lodging were provided to those rescued. The survivors appreciated the efforts and were full of gratitude for the brave soldiers.

 
    
  
 
RESCUE & RELIEF OPERATIONS TANAKPUR & NAINITAL (UTTARAKHAND) FLASH FLOODS FROM 19 TO 21 OCT 21
 
      Swift and relentless rescue operations were launched by army units at Tanakpur and Nainital as the area was hit by a flash flood on 19 Oct 21.
 
      Overall 890 citizens were rescued from Tanakpur, Khairna, Garampani, Kaichidham & Kakari Ghat between 19 to 21 Oct 2021.
    
 
RESCUE AND EVACUATION MISSION MOUNT TRISHUL (UTTARAKHAND) ON 02 OCT 21
 
•      Naval Mountaineering Expedition heading to Mount Trishul, came under an avalanche on 02 Oct 21.  
 
•      A joint rescue mission with multiple ground search teams including members of High Altitude Warfare School, Gulmarg and helicopters of Army Aviation & Indian Air Force was undertaken by Surya Command to rescue the Naval Team.
 
•      The rescue team could recover the mortal remains of four members of the expedition.
 
  
  
RESCUE AND EVACUATION MISSION PIN VALLEY (HP) FROM 27 TO 30 SEP 21
 
      A team from Arette Mountaineering Foundation comprising of six experienced mountaineers and 12 support staff undertook an expedition to Khamengar Glacier on 17 Sep 21. Two senior members lost their lives on 25 Sep 21 due to extreme exhaustion.  
 
      Requisition was received from Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kaza. A team of mountaineers from Dogra Scouts responded swiftly by sending a team to Pin Valley.
 
      The team of Dogra Scouts conducted the rescue and relief operations of the stranded mountaineers. The team retrieved mortal remains from Khamengar glacier at a height of over 18,000 feet after a sustained effort from 27 to 30 Sep 21.
 
   
  
 
 
RESCUE AND EVACUATION MISSION SUMNA (UTTRAKHAND) ON 11 AUG 21
 
      An avalanche hit a BRO detachment about 4 kilometres ahead of Sumna in Chamoli district on 23 April 2021. Rescue operations were launched by the Army and BRO immediately. 
 
      Continuous day and night rescue efforts by the joint team braved the chilling blizzard and heavy snow to rescue the trapped BRO workers from the avalanche sites.
 
      Four helicopters, one army avalanche rescue dog and specialised equipment were used extensively.  384 personnel were rescued which include six critically injured personnel.    
 
    
RESCUE & EVACUATION MISSION PITHORAGARH (UTTRAKHAND) ON 10 JULY 21
 
      On 10 Jul, Panchshul Brigade evacuated four injured personnel of Border Road Organisation who were caught in a flash flood in Pithoragarh district. 
 
      The rescue operation was undertaken amidst inclement weather through rope and foot bridges over the mountain nala that washed away the existing bridge.
