The aim of Infantry Training Battalion is to train recruits to make them a well disciplined, self-reliant, physically tough, mentally robust and highly motivated and confident Mechanised Infantry soldier capable of handling section weapons and fit to form part of stick in a rifle section of a Mechanised Infantry Battalion. During the 34 week training, the recruits are tested in Physical proficiency, Drill, Weapon Trg, Field craft, Swimming, Assault course, Firing tests and Map reading.
Organisation of Training The battalion is designed to train 1375 recruits of all categories. Training is carried out in four phases :-
Phase-l Zero week to include documentation. medical examination, issue and maintenance of kit and familiarisation with MIRC.
Phase-ll 19 Weeks of basic training and recruit leave of four weeks.
Phase-III 15 Weeks of advanced training which includes 10 days of camp training and attestation parade.
Phase-IV Two Weeks of Counter Insurgency Operations training. Recruit becomes a young soldier.
