Aid to Civil Authorities

COVID Assistance.   The Western Command has been proactive and at the forefront of fighting COVID-19 not only within it’s own organisation but also providing real time response to the call of Civil administration in various states thus providing timely assistance at various locations of Patiala, Faridabad and Chandigarh.

The Western Command had operationalised 100 Bedded COVID Hospital in coordination with UT administration at the International Student Hostels of Punjab University other than Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hospital, Faridabad and Rajindra Government Hospital, Patiala. These hospitals had the capacity to accommodate and treat mild to moderate/ Symptomatic patients suffering from COVID-19. Western Command also deployed it’s doctors, nursing officers and paramedics according to ICMR guidelines, provided services ambulances and trained personnel for management of the hospital.

Strike By Electricity Deptt, Chandigarh UT. In a response to the requisition for electrical engineering teams by District Magistrate, Chandimandir UT for restoration of power supply in Chandimandir amidst the ongoing strike, Western Command responded in proactive manner and deployed its MES staff and Kharga Sappers team. The teams toiled relentlessly overnight for charging batteries of circuit breakers & switching stations to make the 66 KVA power station operational which led to restoration of electricity within 24 hours.

OPERATION SADBHAVANA

Operation Sadbhavana is an unique human initiative undertaken by Indian Army in the state of J & K to address aspirations of people affected by terrorism sponsored and abetted by Pakistan. The focus of western Command’s Operation Sadbhavana has been to improve the overall core social indices of education, women & youth Empowerment and health care with simultaneous trust on capacity building through implementation of community/ infrastructure development projects in remote/ border areas/ villages of Western Command Area of Responsibility.
