Faculty of Gunnery (FOG)
1. The Faculty of Gunnery (FOG), came to be a fully functional entity headed by a Major General with effect from 01 January 2013 with two wings namely Gunnery Wing and SATA Wing. It is responsible for overall coordination of training and administration in both wings to include planning and conduct of courses, cadres, integrated firings, demonstration & training audit. It is the repository of all Gunnery and SATA related knowledge and an interface between HQ School of Arty and the Wings. The Faculty is overall responsible to ensure optimum training value and all round growth of students. The teaching staff includes instructors in Gunnery in the rank of major to colonel, in addition to assistant instructors in gunnery (JCOs/NCOs).
(a) Gunnery Wing Headed by a brigadier, the Gunnery Wing imparts training to Offrs, (JCOs/NCOs) on gunnery, rocketry and missiles. The major courses being run are Long Gunnery Staff Course (Offrs, JCOs/NCOs), Advance Gunnery, Young Offrs & Unit Instructors. It’s responsibilities include keeping abreast with the latest technological development in the Field Branch of artillery & formulations/ revision of procedures related to gunnery.
(b) Surveillance and Target Acquisition (SATA) Wing The SATA Wing conducts training of (Offrs, JCOs/NCOs), on Survey and Meteorological, Surveillance, Geographical Information System (GIS), Battlefield Surveillance System (BSS) and Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aspects. The major courses being run are LGSC (JCOs/NCOs), Surveillance course (Officers) and Technical Instructors Fire Control (TIFC) Course. SATA leg for all courses of the Faculty of Gunnery are also conducted by the Wing.
