1.     The Aero Nodal Centre for Hang Gliding was est in 1988 under aegis of HQ Southern Command at School of Arty, Devlali.  This was the beginning of this adventure sport requiring high degree of skill & trg thus giving wings to fly to the men of adventure.  The Aero Nodal Centre (HG) came under Army Adventure Wing (AAW), Military Training Directorate in 1993 & came to be known as AANC (HG). The Army Adventure Nodal Centre for Hang Gliding and Foot Launched Powered Harness Hang Gliding (AANC HG & FLPHHG) is the only facility of its kind in the entire Indian Subcontinent and provides training to armed forces personnel of the country and those of friendly foreign countries.  

 

2.     This is the only hang glider training facility in the world having two consecutive world records.  The node was also given responsibility to train personal of Myanmar sent from this node to Myanmar to assist them in establishing their own training facility, however, the second batch of instructor could not proceed beyond Delhi due to administrative reasons.  Few achievements of its node are as under :-

(c)     Expedition from Mhow to Devlali, 600 km (Feb 2015).

1st World Record Expedition : 2012

1.     School of Artillery conducted a unique expedition on “Powered Harness Hang Gliding from Ganganagar to Udaipur covering a distance of 800 kms along the entire length of Rajasthan. The expedition was led by Col Sanjeev Jarial and OIC, AANC (HG) Maj Raman Mishra with the team comprising Nb Sub Paramjit Singh, Hav Mangal Deb Barma,Nk Gurmeet Singh, Nk AK Singh, LNk Ravinder Singh, LNk A Selvam, LNk Sanjeev Kumar and Gnr PK Pradhan. The pilots flow their hang gliders with special harness which was powered with a 120CC, 15 HP Motor and a carbon graphite propeller. Those special harnesses enabled the pilots to take off from small clear patch of ground and cruise at a speed of upto 70 kmph for several hours depending on the wind condition. 

2.     During the second leg from Bikaner to Jodhpur on 17 Feb 2012 Nb Sub Paramjit Singh created a  “World Record” for “NON STOP FLYING TO A DECLARED GOAL’  in the Powered Harness Gliders Category by covering a distance of 314 Kms from Bikaner to Sanderav, Rajasthan without refueling/landing in six hours. This record is the fist record in this category for Aero Club of India in the World, which has been recognized by the Federation of Aeronotique International (FAI). The international body governing all Aviation Related World Records, Limca Book of Records  has also configure the achievement as a National Record and same will be updated in their version of the Record Book.

          

2nd World Record Expedition : 2018

3.     School of Artillery conducted its second world record expedition on “Powered Harness Hang Gliding from Suratgarh to Barmer covering a distance of 465.33 Km. This expedition was led by Col Parwinder Singh and Lt Col Neel Kishan, OIC, AANC Devlali, with the team comprising of Five offrs, one JCO & 14 OR.  The team was selected trained and equipped by the Nodal Center administered by School of Artillery, Devlali.  Generally a powered hang gliding has an endurance for a distance of about 100 kms but one amongst the team member, Hav (Now Nb Sub) Sanjeev Kumar a Gunner flyer stretched it to a distance of 465.33 kms, thus breaking the previous world record created by Nb Sub Paramjit Singh, his own instructor, thereby creating a new World Record. 

4.     This record is the second record in this category for Aero Club of India in the World which has been recognized by the Federation of Aeronautique Internationals (FAI), the international body governing all Aviation related World Records. Limca Book of Records has also configured the achievement as National Record. He has been awarded the cert Federation Aeronatique International (FAI), LIMCA BOOK OF RECORDS, Asia Book of Records & India Book of Records. Nb Sub Sanjeev Kumar has also been awarded prestigious Macgregor Memorial Medal by COAS on 08 Mar 22.
