Indian Army Ski Expedition
Indian Army Ski Expedition to South Pole 2010-11 was the first such Indian Team expedition to the geographical South Pole consisting of 8 members. The team covered 1,170 Km in 49 days & 10 hours and unfurled the National Flag on 15 Jan 2011, the day we celebrate Army Day.

Army Adventure Wing (AAW) under DCOAS (IS & C)/ Brig Sports is the apex body for the planning, conduct, coordination and promotion of adventure activities in the Indian Army.
Vastly different from recreational sports, only activities possessing high risk content with operational benefits are patronised by AAW.
Presently AAW conducts training in 19 different adventure disciplines categorised under three fields of Aero, Aqua and Land.
There are 28 state-of-the-art Army Adventure Training Centres in the Army that imparts specialised training and certification to all volunteers having the zeal and enthusiasm to pursue adventure activities.
